Hand dislocations occur when a force causes the bones in your fingers or wrist to move out of position. Sports or job-related injuries, falls and motor vehicle crashes are the most common causes of hand dislocations. Symptoms can include deformity, extreme pain, loss of motion and loss of sensation. The bones may spontaneously return to position, or they may need realignment by a doctor with or without surgery.
Hand Dislocation Symptoms
If you suffer from a hand dislocation, you will experience pain at the time of injury and subsequent pain when you try to move it. You may also have difficulty moving your hand and not be able to use it. Displaced bones can make your hand look odd or crooked. Other symptoms may include bruising, swelling or feeling numb.
